The Stand Against Racism is a movement of the YWCA. Our goal is to unite groups and individuals that share in our vision of a society free of racism and discrimination. Together, we want to raise awareness that racism still exists and that it cannot be ignored or tolerated.
The Stand Against Racism is an annual event held on the last Friday in April. Over 40 local agencies have joined the YWCA Central Massachusetts in taking a Stand Against Racism. We hope you will be one of them!
On April 30, 2010, the YWCA will kick-off the Stand Against Racism with a Community Lecture featuring Tim Wise, one of the country’s leading anti-racist writers and activists, and wrap-up the day with a Public Stand featuring speak-outs and performances. Participating Sites are invited to attend both events as well as welcomed to bring tables and chairs to work their own resource tables during the Public Stand.
