This Spring, the YWCA will recognize the achievements of remarkable women who are making their mark on the Central Massachusetts community. We are seeking nominations of women who inspire you with their leadership and ambition for our annual Katharine F. Erskine Award. To be eligible, she must show a commitment to the YWCA mission - eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all - and meet the following criteria:

  • distinctive achievement and service in her current field;
  • service to community with a demonstrated commitment to social and racial equality;
  • demonstrated commitment to serving as a role model for women and girls; and
  • must live and/or work in Central Massachusetts.

The YWCA will present the award to 5 women selected from of the following categories: Arts & Humanities; Business & Law; Community/Social Service & Government; Education; and Medicine & Science. A panel comprised of community leaders, past Erskine Award recipients, and YWCA volunteers will select an award recipient in each of the five categories. Selections will not be based on the number of nominations for an individual, but rather on the merit of the individual. We will hold a celebration event in May to honor the recipients.

Nominees do not have to be a member of the YWCA. Members of the YWCA Board of Directors are not eligible for nomination.

Nomination Deadline: February 19, 2010

The information provided below will be used by our panel of judges to determine this year’s honorees.
